Game rules

Players equipment

Players get full set of equipment needed for the game. It consists of following elements:

1. Paintball Marker

Marker is the most important equipment - you shoot with it. Marker goes with CO2 tank attached to it as well as the loader. Semi automatic markers shoot one paintball every time you push the trigger. Full automatic markers have electronic components built in what allows for shooting bigger number of paintballs with single trigger pulling. Just at the trigger you will find safety switch that is used to secure the gun when you don't play. After switching it the marker cannot be fired.

2. Loader

The loader is the place where you put your paintballs before shooting. You can put 200 paintballs there. It is rare case when you would need more paintballs in a single game.

3. Goggles

Goggles are VERY important element of the player safety equipment. It protects from direct hit in face. Players MUST wear goggles when entering game field.

4. CO2 tank

The tank contains CO2 gas under high pressure. When shooting the gas decompresses in the marker and causes the ball to "fly".

5. Barrel condom

Barrel condom is additional safety equipment that protects from accidental firing from the marker when you are outside the game field. Barrel condom should be always put on when you leave the game field.

6. Army suit

Army suit has two functions - it gives you camouflage and it protects your clothes from being "painted". Suites are washed after every game. We have all possible sizes of the suites and each person will find something that fits.

7. Paintballs

Paintballs diameter is approx 1 cm. he paintball contains nutritive paint that is safe for players and very easy to remove from the body or clothes. At the beginning each player gets equal number of paintballs and uses them to reload the gun after every game. Paintball shell is very fragile with moisture - when contacted with moisture the paintball swells and can't be used for the game any more. Players should not pick up paintballs from the ground and try to use them in the game - paintball that had contact with moisture can blow up in the loader and break all other paintballs.

The Game

Following directions will refer to the most basic scenario - The Extermination. Players are divided into two teams. Each of the teams has clear marking so that team members don't have problems with recognizing who is an enemy. The main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposite team (see When you got hit...). When a team eliminates all opponents the team wins. There may be time limit - in that case if the time is over and there are still fighting players on the field, the game is finished and the team that killed more opponents wins. One can sum number of opponents killed by each team in all games and in that way decide which team is a winner.

Game area

Game area is always decided before the game and has appropriate markings with tape or other signs that allow to distinguish it's borders. Players can move only in that designated area. Leaving this area during the game is treated as showing the will to leave the game. Player that left game are is treated as eliminated even if he is not hit. Players must wear goggles on the game area. There is designated neutral zone close to the game field where players are allowed to take off the goggles. Only players and judges are allowed to be on the game field.

Safety regulations

There are reasons to call Paintball an extreme sport - it gives you a lot of fun and emotions, but it can be really dangerous if you don't obey basic safety regulations.

  • Players should always wear goggles on the game area. Goggles protect from direct hit in the face - You are not allowed to walk on the game field without goggles - you can take them of only in the neutral zone.
  • Remember that outside the game area paintball markers must have safety switches turned into "safe" position and they must have barrel condoms put on.
  • Only adults can play paintball. Under age must have permission signed by their parents.
  • It is forbidden to play paintball when under influence of alcohol or other dopes.
  • Attacking people, animals or things that are not subject of the game is forbidden.

When you got hit...

The player is eliminated from the game when he is hit by paintball that crushed on him and left paint marks. He can also declare himself as eliminated. One cannot recall such declaration. Being hit in your gun or shoe also causes elimination from the game. Sometimes the paintball hits the player but it doesn't crush. In this situation the player is not eliminated. Often the action is very quick and such situation may be problematic:

  • You notice at once that the paintball was not crushed and you continue the game.
  • You are not sure whether the paintball was crushed and you ask your friend or judge to check whether there are marks of paint from crushed paintball on your suit.
  • You think that the paintball got crushed and you declare yourself eliminated - in that case you leave the game field, even if after short moment you've noticed that the paintball didn't crush.
When the player got hit she/he should shout "got hit", raise one hand and with hand raised up leave the game field. Remember not to take off the mask when leaving the game field. When leaving the game field you should not talk with "living" players and give them signs.

Judges

There are two judges on the game field. They wear vivid suites. Judges pay attention on the way players uphold the rules and the help in problematical situations. The game starts and ends on the signal given by judges.
